I’m not a terribly huge television watcher, but I do watch/listen to a number of podcasts on a regular basis. I usually try to get into one or two shows every fall season, but quite often the shows get stale rather quickly (I’m looking at you, Flash Forward) or I otherwise lose interest. There are a couple of shows that I’m looking forward to this fall, however.

The Event premiered last night. I haven’t seen it yet, but plan on watching it with my fiancé tomorrow night. It’s a conspiracy/thriller show with a sprinkle of science fiction. The show uses a lot of the same elements of mystery, suspense and “I’ve gotta know what’s going to happen next.” I’ll give it a shot, and it could become the next Lost, but it could also become the next Heroes or Flash Forward.

I finally started watching Mad Men over the summer. Although season 4 premiered in July, I’m still back on season 2. If you’re not familiar with Mad Men, it’s a show about an advertising agency during a period in the 1960s known as the “golden age” of advertising. The show-runners do an excellent job of making the story seem genuine to the time period (think smoking, treatment of female employees, set-design). Hopefully I’ll have time to catch up on that soon.

The Walking Dead, also on AMC, is probably the show that I’m looking forward to the most. It’s a post-apocalyptic show that starts off a lot like 28 Days Later (guy wakes up in a hospital, there are Zombies about). I saw some of the making-of stuff on the official website, and am super-excited about it. The show premiers on Halloween night. I can’t wait.
