40 Rules Cover FINALMy new book, 40 Rules for Internet Business Success, will be available two weeks from today. I’ve received a ton of positive feedback about the book from people that have gotten early copies. A lot of people have expressed interest in the book and have asked questions about it, so I wanted to provide a few more details about the book and publicly answer some of the questions I’ve heard prior to its launch.

Why did you write 40 Rules for Internet Business Success?

Enter your email address below to receive a steady stream of tricks, tips and ideas to help you build a better and more profitable business.

When I started my business in 2006, there weren’t many good podcasts, books or other resources for entrepreneurs that wanted to build businesses that rely heavily on technology. The game plan I needed simply didn’t exist at the time. I had to muddle through for the first several years and made a lot of mistakes along the way. Today, I operate three very profitable companies, but it was a very long slog to get there. If I knew then what I know today, I would have been able to build my businesses in half the time and would have avoided a lot of headaches along the way. I’ve written the book so that you can grow your business faster and avoid many of the mistakes that I’ve made on my journey.

What is the book about?

40 Rules for Internet Business Success is a list of 40 principles to follow while building your business. The 40 rules in the book are all based off my personal experience building internet businesses during the last eight years. The book will provide you a step-by-step process you need to get your business from concept to launch to sustainability and profitability. By reading and following the rules in the book, you’ll become a better entrepreneur because you’ll know what it actually takes to succeed in Internet business and will be able to avoid many of the common mistakes made by entrepreneurs.

The book is broken up into four sections that each contain ten rules: personal development, getting your business from zero to launch, running and systemizing your business and marketing and growing your business. There are also two appendices: a list of 40 online business idea and a list of books and podcasts that I recommend.

Who is the book for? Can I learn from it even if I don’t want to start an Internet business?

If you are entrepreneurially minded, this book is for you. Sure, a good chunk of the book is targeted at people that want to build businesses that rely heavily technology, but there’s also a lot of good content for people that work for or run a more traditional small business as well.

Are you providing any bonuses to people that buy the book?

Yes. If you purchase the book, you will get access to two bonuses interviews that I recorded with Andy Traub. The first interview, Bootstrapped Business Ideas, delves deeper into some of the online business ideas discussed in the first appendix. The second interview, The Seven Deadly Sins of New Entrepreneurs, discusses some common mistakes that new entrepreneurs make.
